Suriname too strong for China, advances to fifth-place match
Suriname convincingly defeated hosts China 12-19 in Chengdu, securing a place in the battle for fifth place at the World Games 2025.
The match began evenly, with the score tied at 2-2 after four minutes. Suriname missed an early penalty but then took the initiative with two quick goals to make it 2-4, extending their lead to 2-5 by the end of the first quarter.
While the hosts missed their chances in the second quarter, Suriname remained clinical and controlled the game. In the second half, China briefly closed the gap, but Suriname kept their composure and professionally saw out the match.
Tomorrow brings another clash with Germany, whom Suriname narrowly defeated 15-14 in their opening group match. This time, the battle will be for fifth place in the tournament, a fantastic achievement in reach for Team SU!
