De ontwikkeling van korfbal in Suriname

Our mission

The Suriname Korfball Federation is committed to reintroducing korfball in Suriname and making the sport accessible to youth. Since 2017, the federation has been actively building a national team and strengthening its sports infrastructure.

An important step in this mission is cooperation with primary schools in Suriname. Currently, the Suriname Korfball Federation works together with 44 primary schools. And the next step is to provide these schools with all materials to play the sport of korfball.

Adoption plan

Through the adoption plan, we connect Surinamese primary schools to committed partners in the Netherlands - from korfball clubs to individuals, organisations and companies. Clubs can donate materials and help with sports development. But anyone can help us! Whether you want to donate materials or can make a financial contribution, your help makes a big difference.

This gives pupils the chance to discover korfball and develop their skills. In addition, PE teachers are trained to give korfball training, so that the sport is given a structural place within education.

The next phase

The adoption scheme has been launched and anyone can apply to adopt a primary school, provide it with materials and, where possible, knowledge about the sport.

With these funds, weekly korfball lessons can then take place and major school tournaments can be organised.

Why is this important to us?

  • Opportunities for children to discover a new sport
  • Making a contribution in the field of gender equality
  • Putting Suriname on the global sports map
